"You are a universe."

Four simple words. Four words that, on their own, are hardly special. But somehow, together, they create a beautiful portrait of raw, never-ending love. And essentially, that is what this entire book is. Simple, meaningless words strung together in such a beautiful way that you understand what it is to love and be loved.

This is, without a doubt, a special book. It's not a warm and fuzzy book that you can use to escape reality. It is heartbreakingly real and will leave you spent by the time you've finished. This wreaked me in ways I didn't think possible.

And I didn't understand at first, when other reviews mentioned the final feeling of hope. I didn't think it was possible given how much I was crying and hurting. But now that I've finished, I get it. I don't get how Emma Scott did it (she might be magic) but I understand that final feeling of unwavering hope. And I'm able to write this without tears streaming down my face, even though I have a legit migraine from all the crying I've done in the past two hours.

It takes a special kind of author to rip you apart while also putting you back together, and then somehow, in the end, make you feel more whole than when you started. And if I doubted it before (I didn't), this novel confirmed it: Emma Scott is a very special author.

I'll be honest, I was skeptical when I first started reading, and when I realized a certain spoiler (which can be found in my goodreads review, if you're interested but since I can't block it here I won't include it :D), I was pissed. I wanted to hate this book. I tried to. It sounds crazy I'm sure, but here's what you must understand about me... I am a deeply empathetic person. I should have been prepared for it, I mean the synopsis doesn't make it out to be something it's not. I just made assumptions, but that was my mistake. (sorry for the vagueness but it's a serious spoiler)

And since I typically RUN from stories like this, I was hesitant to continue. But I've been wanting to read this so bad, so I forged on, despite the fact that a huge part of me was mad when I realized this would happen. But that's just because the situation in general sucks. It sucks so bad, and that has nothing to do with this wonderful book.

I'll be honest if this was by another author that I didn't love so much, or I had known the full extent of it going in, I might not have read it. And that would have been a shame, because it is a beautiful story. So I hope anyone who might feel as I would have takes a chance and reads this. It really is amazing how she took something I typically can't bear to read and turned it into one of my favorite novels.

With superb writing, interesting and complex characters, and a storyline that gives new meaning to what an epic love story can be, I really can't think of anything I'd change. It was perfect. I cannot wait to see the magic she works in the sequel, All In.

Yes, there were tears in my eyes (and streaming down my cheeks) as I finished, but there was also warmth in my chest, and I can't think of a better way to leave a novel.

Full Tilt edition by Emma Scott Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I knew going in that Emma Scott's Full Tilt was going to be a moving, heart-wrenching story. I expected to feel and to cry; I thought I was ready. Even so, I was not prepared for the depth of emotion I experienced. I know now, that being prepared was never even a remote possibility.

This book has completely wrecked me and I don't think I'll ever be the same. It has left an indelible mark on my heart. This is the type of story that must be experienced. I don't want to spoil it, so I'm keeping this review rather vague by withholding synopsis and plot detail.

The characters, Kasey and Jonah, are loveable, well-developed and complex. Their unconventional romance is told in alternating POV. The writing is impeccable. The story is compelling, poetic, thought-provoking, painful, achingly beautiful, and entirely inspiring.

I don't think I've ever cried so much while reading a book. That being said, this book is not a downer. Although parts were painful, the story is actually quite uplifting. It's about finding true love, even in the midst of tragedy. It's about friendship, hope, and savoring every moment with those you love.

"We might not have months or years, but we have moments. Thousands upon thousands of them. Let's take each moment, seize it and wring it dry."

"I'd never experienced anything like this in my life. He was a universe. My love for him was just as boundless."

"You are a universe, Kacey. I kept waiting to find the end of your love and beauty, the end of your generous heart. I never did. I never will."

"That's my legacy I loved you and was loved by you."

This is my first Emma Scott book, and I am completely blown away! It's absolute perfection. My heart is full.
Overall Opinion I loved it! Gosh, I can't even remember when my last 5 star book was (that wasn't a re-read)!! I have NEVER cried as hard in a book like I did with this one. I was a blubbering mess that had my husband asking if I was ok more than one time ;). I connected with both characters, I felt their connection to each other, and it completely tapped into my emotions! I have only read one book by this author (RUSH), and while I liked it I didn't love it like this one. I think she is going to be on my radar for authors to look out for after this! I'm sooo happy that I waited until they were both done, because I'm now going to jump into the next book All In...

Brief Summary of the Storyline This is Kacey and Jonah's story. I'm going to keep this brief in hopes of not ruining it. They meet when Jonah is the limo driver for Kacey's band, and he takes care of her in an inebriated state. Kacey isn't happy with her current lifestyle in an up-and-coming band, and Jonah's kindness is just what she needs to make some big life changes. Jonah has a heart condition and is working under a strict schedule to leave his imprint in the world with a large glass exhibit, and Kacey throws a wrench into his meticulous routine. They spend more and more time together, and they eventually fall in love.

POV This alternated between Kacey and Jonah's POV.

Overall Pace of Story Good. It flowed well and I never skimmed.

Instalove No, but an instant strong connection.

H rating 5 stars. Jonah. He got dealt a bad hand, but I loved his character!

h rating 5 stars. Kacey. She was a damaged lonely girl, but I loved how she cared, was so loyal, and was strong for Jonah.

Sadness level High. Bring out the tissues people! I ugly cried with this one!!

Push/Pull Yes

Heat level Moderate. They have some hot chemistry and scenes, but not so much that it took away from the storyline.

Descriptive sex Yes

OW/OM drama No

Sex scene with OW or OM No

Cheating No

Separation Not really

Closure This had a ending with some closure, but the next book All In is out and will conclude the story.

How I got it It was part of my kindle unlimited subscription.
